How to Program Tait T2000 Series Radios with Tait TN-1228-SR Software
Tait T2000 series radios are mobile VHF and UHF radios that can be used for conventional or trunked communication. They are popular among amateur radio enthusiasts, as they can be easily converted to operate on different frequency bands. To program Tait T2000 series radios, you will need the following:
A Tait T2000 series radio (such as T2010ii, T2015ii, T2020ii, T2030ii, T2035ii, or T2040ii)
A Tait TN-1228-SR programming software (also known as M2000-00-009-806), which is compatible with Windows XP and Windows 7
A Tait T2000 USB programming cable (or a RJ12 to DB9 serial cable)
A computer with a serial port or a USB to serial adapter
A 12V power source for the radio
An external speaker or a headset (optional)
Here are the steps to program your Tait T2000 series radio:
Connect the 12V power source to the radio and turn it on.
Connect the programming cable to the radio's microphone socket and to the computer's serial port or USB to serial adapter.
Run the Tait TN-1228-SR programming software on your computer. You can download it for free from Radiotronics[^1^].
Select Radio > Read from the menu or click on the Read button on the toolbar. The software will read the radio's model, band, and serial number.
Select File > New from the menu or click on the New button on the toolbar. The software will create a new database for your radio.
Select Radio > Channels from the menu or click on the Channels button on the toolbar. The software will show you a list of channels that you can program for your radio.
Double-click on a channel that you want to program. The software will open a Channel form where you can enter the frequency, power level, squelch type, CTCSS/DCS code, scan group, and other settings for that channel.
Repeat step 7 for each channel that you want to program.
Select Radio > Write from the menu or click on the Write button on the toolbar. The software will write your settings to the radio.
Disconnect the programming cable from the radio and the computer.
Test your radio by transmitting and receiving on the programmed channels.

Trunked mode is a feature that allows you to communicate with other radios on a shared frequency band, without having to manually select a channel. The radio automatically switches to an available channel when you press the PTT button, and returns to the control channel when you release it. This way, you can avoid interference and congestion on busy channels.
To use trunked mode on Tait T2000 series radios, you will need the following:
A Tait T2000 series radio that supports trunked mode (such as T2030ii, T2035ii, or T2040ii)
A trunked system that you can access (such as MPT1327 or LTR)
Here are the steps to use trunked mode on your Tait T2000 series radio:
Connect the 12V power source to the radio and turn it on.
Connect the programming cable to the radio's microphone socket and to the computer's serial port or USB to serial adapter.
